While injured and out of the England Tests, KL Rahul was accused of 'sending misleading signals'

K L Rahul has come under scrutiny from a BCCI source following his social media posts featuring practice sessions, which has raised concerns. A source within the Board has accused him of "sending wrong signals," particularly in light of his recent injury setback. Rahul's absence in the third Test against England, attributed to a lingering quadriceps strain that also kept him out of the second match, has fueled the ongoing debate.
The Karnataka batter is set to continue his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, aiming for a comeback in subsequent Tests. Initially included in the squad alongside Ravindra Jadeja, pending clearance from the BCCI's medical team, Rahul's fate remains uncertain due to renewed injury concerns, casting doubt over his return to the playing XI.
As reported by NDTV Sports, a senior BCCI source expressed their perspective, stating, "KL Rahul hasn't yet reported in Rajkot. Ravindra Jadeja, the local boy, has linked up with the team. It was always a case of subject to fitness, and BCCI medical team is still not confident that he is match fit. If the BCCI's medical team knew in the first place that Rahul's quad injury is as serious as it looks, why, in the first place, was he kept in the provisional squad? And why is the player sending wrong signals by posting videos of his batting on Instagram stories?"
The BCCI, in a press release, had previously stated, "KL Rahul, whose availability for the remaining three Tests was subject to fitness, has been ruled out of the third Test against England in Rajkot. KL Rahul has reached 90% of match fitness and is progressing well under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team."
