Farmers' unions plan to restart their 'Delhi Chalo' march towards the national capital on Wednesday
As protesting farmers' unions gear up to resume their 'Delhi Chalo' march towards the national capital on Wednesday, the Delhi Police have heightened security measures at the city's borders to impede their progress.
Specifically, the Singhu border area is undergoing sealing preparations in anticipation of the resumption of the farmers' Delhi Chalo protest march from February 21st, as reported on Tuesday. The Delhi Police issued directives on Tuesday to personnel stationed at Tikri, Singhu, and Ghazipur border points to maintain a high level of vigilance.
According to a PTI report, both the Tikri and Singhu border points have been effectively sealed with substantial police deployment and the installation of multi-layered barricades comprising concrete and iron nails. At the Ghazipur border, two lanes have been closed with similar barricades and police presence. Officials stated that, if necessary, the Ghazipur border might also be shut on Wednesday.
In light of the impending protest march called by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait), the Noida Police cautioned commuters traveling to and from Greater Noida about potential traffic diversions. According to plans, farmers intend to converge at the Knowledge Park metro station on tractors and private vehicles. Subsequently, they will conduct a march passing through prominent locations before concluding at the Collectorate in Surajpur.
Traffic diversions, if required, may be implemented at key points, including Galgotia Cut, Pari Chowk, LG Roundabout, Moser Bear Roundabout, Durga Talkies Roundabout, and Surajpur Chowk, as noted in the police advisory. Emergency vehicles will be granted safe passage during traffic diversions, and individuals are encouraged to use alternative routes to minimize inconvenience. In case of traffic-related issues, the traffic helpline number 9971009001 is available for assistance.
