Indian Navy personnel thank PM Modi for intervention

On the 12th of February, a significant development unfolded as eight Indian Navy veterans, previously sentenced to death in Qatar four months ago, were finally released from captivity. The Ministry of External Affairs expressed gratitude to the Amir of the State of Qatar for facilitating the release and repatriation of these Indian nationals.

Seven out of the eight Indian Navy veterans have since returned to India. It is noteworthy that they had faced death sentences on charges of espionage. The successful release was made possible through the dedicated diplomatic efforts of the Indian government and the personal intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Additionally, legal assistance was provided by the Indian government to support the veterans.

In conversations with ANI, the Navy veterans commended Prime Minister Modi for addressing the issue with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. They credited their release to the relentless diplomatic initiatives undertaken at the Prime Minister's behest.

Expressing his sentiments, one Navy veteran stated, "I feel relieved and delighted to be back home safe and sound finally. I wish to thank Prime Minister Modi, as this wouldn't have been possible had it not been for his personal intervention to secure our release. I also wish to express my gratitude to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar."

Another veteran emphasized, "Without the intervention of PM Modi, we would not have walked free. We wouldn't be standing before you today had it not been for his untiring efforts and interventions at the highest levels to secure our freedom."

This successful resolution underscores the importance of diplomatic channels and high-level interventions in securing the release of individuals facing serious charges abroad. The Indian government's commitment to safeguarding its citizens and its proactive engagement in resolving such situations has been acknowledged by those who have experienced the impact firsthand.
