India surpasses Pakistan's 30-year-old record with a series triumph against England

England arrived in India with the aim of challenging the home team's unbeaten Test record. While they won the first Test in Hyderabad and remained competitive, India clinched crucial moments in the next three Tests to secure the series. The highlight came in the fourth Test in Ranchi, where India had to chase a 150+ score batting last, a feat not achieved at home since 2013.

The five-wicket victory in Ranchi extended India's unbeaten streak in home series wins to 17, surpassing Pakistan's 16 consecutive series from 1982 to 1994. India has now been undefeated at home in Test series since February 2013.

Australia holds the top spot in this record, boasting 28 consecutive Test series wins at home from November 1993 to November 2008. India appears twice more on the list, having secured 14 consecutive series wins from 1987 to 1999 and then from 2004 to 2012.

The record was on the line in Ranchi, especially after India lost five wickets for 36 runs following a solid opening stand of 84. The unbeaten 72-run partnership between Dhruv Jurel and Shubman Gill in the second innings played a pivotal role. Jurel's composure, along with Gill's contribution, ensured India sealed the series with a match to spare. The win in Ranchi marked India's ability to handle pressure and chase down a significant target at home, adding another layer to their impressive home record in Test cricket.
