Jasprit Bumrah returns, but K.L. Rahul ruled out of the Dharamsala Test

Jasprit Bumrah, previously rested for the fourth Test in Ranchi, has been summoned for the fifth and concluding match in Dharamsala

Jasprit Bumrah stages a comeback into the Indian team for the fifth and final Test against England in Dharamsala on March 7. However, K.L. Rahul won't be part of the squad due to a persistent quadricep tendon injury, despite efforts to regain fitness. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring Rahul, seeking specialist advice from London.

Rahul's injury recurrence, initially sustained during the IPL last year, has persisted, sidelining him after the first Test in Hyderabad. The vice-captain, Bumrah, rested for the fourth Test in Ranchi, has been included for the Dharamsala Test.

While Rajat Patidar is retained, Devdutt Padikkal might replace him in the playing XI. India, holding a 3-1 lead in the series, displayed remarkable resilience after an initial setback in Hyderabad.

Washington Sundar is released to participate in Tamil Nadu's Ranji Trophy semi-final against Mumbai, with a potential return to the India squad after the domestic fixture.

Mohammed Shami, recovering from a right heel problem with surgery on February 26, is set to commence rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

India's updated squad for the fifth Test includes Rohit Sharma (captain), Jasprit Bumrah (vice-captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), K.S. Bharat (wicketkeeper), Devdutt Padikkal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, and Akash Deep.
