Nafe Singh Rathee, the Haryana INLD chief, was fatally shot by unidentified gunmen in Jhajjar
On Sunday, Nafe Singh Rathee, the Haryana unit chief of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), was fatally shot by unidentified gunmen in Jhajjar district. Travelling in an SUV with his nephew Rajesh, the assailants spared Rajesh's life after the incident. Four individuals were injured, with Rathee and one bodyguard succumbing to injuries. The Haryana police are examining CCTV footage and have identified a suspected car. An FIR has been filed against Naresh Kaushik, Ramesh Rathee, Sathish Rathee, and Rahul based on the family's complaint.
The incident has sparked outcry against the Haryana government, with INLD leaders demanding Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's resignation. Rathee, a two-time MLA and state unit chief, lacked security despite prior representations about threats, according to INLD leader Abhay Chautala. Six months ago, Rathee informed Chautala about a life threat. The INLD is urging a CBI investigation into the incident.
There are speculations about Lawrence Bishnoi's gang involvement in Rathee's murder, according to sources quoted by The Times of India. Currently serving time in prison for various cases, Bishnoi is known for operating criminal activities, including high-profile killings, from prison.
