Renowned ghazal-playback vocalist and Padma Shri awardee, Pankaj Udhas, breathed his last at the age of 72 after battling a prolonged illness. The sad news was shared by his family on Instagram, disclosing that he passed away at 11 a.m. on February 26 in Mumbai, where he had been undergoing treatment at the Breach Candy Hospital.

The last rites for the legendary singer are scheduled for today. His mortal remains will be kept at his residence in Worli for the final darshan, followed by cremation from 3 to 5 pm. Dignitaries from the film industry and politics are expected to pay their respects. Pankaj Udhas will receive a farewell with state honors, and his brother Manhar Udhas has already arrived to bid his final goodbye.

Preparations for the last darshan have begun at his home in Worli, where fans and well-wishers will have the opportunity to pay their respects. A recent video circulating on social media captures Pankaj Udhas interacting with paparazzi, expressing gratitude, and saying, 'Thank you. See you guys.' Fans are mourning the loss of the legend, with many describing it as the end of an era.

Born on May 17, 1951, in Jetpur, Gujarat, Pankaj Udhas hailed from a family with a rich musical legacy. His father, Manohar Udhas, was a renowned Gujarati folk singer, and his elder brother, Nirmal Udhas, was also a well-known ghazal singer. Pankaj Udhas embarked on his musical journey in the early 1970s and gained prominence with his debut album "Aahat" in 1980.

Throughout his career, Pankaj Udhas released numerous soulful and heart-touching ghazals, such as "Chitthi Aayi Hai," "Chandi Jaisa Rang Tera," "Thodi Thodi Piya Karo," "Ek Taraf Uska Ghar," and "Aaj Jinke Kareeb Hote Hai," earning him widespread recognition and leaving an indelible mark on the world of music.
