Yashasvi Jaiswal is on the verge of establishing an all-time record for India in Test cricket

Yashasvi Jaiswal's stellar performance in the ongoing Test series against England has been nothing short of remarkable. With an impressive tally of 545 runs in six innings, averaging 109 and boasting a strike rate of 81.10, he has consistently dominated the crease. His recent achievement of securing a second consecutive double-century in the third Test further solidifies his impact.

Since making his Test debut for India, Jaiswal has amassed a total of 861 runs in just 13 innings, boasting an impressive average of 71.75. Accompanied by three centuries and two fifties, his ability to convert starts into significant scores is evident. Notably, he has surpassed the 200-run mark twice and also achieved a score of 150+ against the West Indies.

Currently, Jaiswal is on the brink of a monumental record in Indian Test cricket. If he manages to score 139 runs in the next four Test matches, he has the opportunity to become the fastest player to reach 1000 runs, potentially surpassing Cheteshwar Pujara and Sunil Gavaskar, who achieved the milestone in just 11 Test matches. This would make him the second-fastest overall, with only Don Bradman achieving the feat in seven matches.

In terms of innings, Jaiswal aims to join Kambli as the fastest to 1000 runs, needing to score 139 runs in the next innings itself. As the ongoing WTC 2023-25 unfolds, Jaiswal continues to lead the run charts, making significant contributions to India's campaign. Having debuted at the beginning of the cycle, he currently holds the top position, with Australia's Usman Khawaja closely trailing behind with 855 runs.
